Meet Dr. Jim Claghorn, DVM
I was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1953. As early as I can remember I've always wanted to be a veterinarian for dogs and cats. In spite of the fact that some junior high school testing had determined that I was tailor-made for the Postal Service, I continued to pursue my dream.
I left home when I was 18 and joined the Army. After a three-year stint, I was honorably discharged and extremely motivated to continue my education. In 1975 I entered Penn State University and was ranked first in my class for the three years I attended that wonderful school.
I’ve always been a bit of a seeker, so no one was too surprised when I packed up and moved to California to finish my undergraduate studies. While completing my Physiology Major at the Davis campus of the University of California, I gained acceptance into the University of California Veterinary School and graduated in 1982. After two years of working at various small animal practices, I started Veterinary House Calls on the Monterey Peninsula of California. Twenty-five plus years later and we're still going strong.
